The JPEG-trojans are real - thanks to a flaw in Microsoft's JPEG-decompression code, the user can let the bad guys in by just looking at a picture! The trojanized JPEGs can be placed on web-sites, sent via E-mail and so on. Naturally the picture has to be viewed with a Microsoft program (like the Internet Explorer, Outlook or any Office component) to be effective. Other browsers (like Opera or Firefox) are immune to this vulnerability. I sure hope I'm not the only one to find this very disturbing. So if you're a Microsoft user, PLEASE get the latest patches from Windows update! We have enough zombie PC's spitting out spam already.
