I was chatting with some guy on IRC, I think he said he was from DC or something. He asked me about this tsunami-thing, and I explained it to him. His response was something in the lines of "Who cares? They're just some dumb poor people living in some hellhole on another continent". I felt it was appropriate to remind him, that from my point of view the 9/11 attacks also happened on another continent.

Ignorance truly is universal.
