It looks to me like they are flying over the atlantic ocean...not the pacific. Nice art on the americas.

The map is part of my vectorized map collection; I drew them originally for the comic strip, but I've later found them useful for other projects aswell. I have one world map, and several high-detail closeups from the places where Simon and Deirdre have visited or will visit in the near future.

Only the backgrounds. The character are vector grapics done with several different programs.

Now, you're probably asking yourself "good god, why on Earth is he using such an old piece of software?". The answer is: my tools are legal. The software may be old (like my computer is), but I own the originals.

If someone has an original version of 3DS MAX 3 or higher gathering dust somewhere, I'd be more than happy to provide it a new home :)

It's actually a show about bad films. And it's not the only reference to that show in this comic :) See the posters in Simon's room for more clues.
